This little object in the shape of The Little Mermaid is almost the souvenir archetype. One unit picked out of an innumerable amount. The figure is made in countless copies and sold in Copenhagen souvenir shops since the 1950s. My grandmother Henriette Lauridsen bought this copy on one of her rare visits to Copenhagen, and for many years it stood on a small table in her living room. In the context of an exhibition in the public space in Søby, on the island Ærø in Denmark, the souvenir was placed on an oak pole with a length of 150 cm.
